Title: CBT for Valid Assessment in a Language Program Abstract: The presenter will discuss his own recent experience in administering vocabulary computer-based assessment (CBT) for a large, university wide English language program. This experience will be used as an example of how CBT can bring validity to a program that can be difficult and cumbersome to manage. The presenter will share the results of 3 CBT's that are part of an on-going research study. He will share examples of what has worked, challenges, and areas that are still being investigated to determine their usefulness and reliability for a reading class. Participants will have the opportunity to take the assessment and to experiment with the Moodle quiz making software that was used to design the CBT. The presenter hopes to spark a discussion of ideas and suggestions in the workshop that will continue online with the participants after the workshop has finished.
